 Our 3's Classes The Kittens (M/W) and The Puppies (Tu/Th) Our 3 year old class is for children who are 3 by Sept 1st of the year they are enrolling. We have two 3 year old classes: a Monday/Wednesday class and a Tuesday/Thursday class. Both classes meet from 9-11:30 am. Our 3's lead teacher is Sheryl. This is her first year here with us at Mustard Seed, but brings many years of teaching experience. Our 3's class begins with free choice time from 9-9:30.  Centers might include: racing cars down the ramps, playing with the
doll house, playing with the kitchen setup, Legos or other building
blocks, puzzles, lacing boards, playdough, floam, or even flubber!
After center time is cleanup and circle time; where the students sing
the days of the week song, count the days of the month, and welcome their friends to
class. Then comes the craft time! The craft centers around the letter
of the week or the theme for the month. For example: The letter of
the week might be 'D'. So the craft one day might be Dot Painting the letter D and then the next day would be a David and Goliath activity to go along with the Bible story for the week. In keeping with our "D" week, we'd also have Dinosaurs and Dolls out and Dirt in our sensory table! We do this in order to
teach the kids not only the individual letter, but that the letter has
a certain place in words; which is an early literacy skill for
pre-readers.  After craft is snack and recess. We do provide a snack
during the day (organic animal crackers, pretzels, or goldfish based on the
teacher's choice)and a juice. After recess is their closing circle
time and release to parents. We also have field trips (pumpkin patch,
fire station, Children's Museum, etc.) and special events (Thanksgiving
Harvest Feast, Christmas Program, VIP, Mother's Day Tea, etc.) during
the year. |
